Suzy of Double Blessings! Double Joy!

The featured blogger this week is Suzy of Double Blessings! Double Joy! Suzy is the proud MoM of two sets of twins, 7 year old Grace and Hannah, and 3 year old Joshua and Julia.  I love that Suzy starts her blog posts addressing her kids, I think that is something her kiddos will love when they are older. It’s almost like a daily/weekly/monthly letter to them.

What made you decide to start a blog?

I heard a speaker at my MOPS group talk about blogging.

You have two sets of twins, were there any differences in your pregnancies?

Yes, the first pregnancy I had gestational diabetes but not during the 2nd one. However, the 2nd pregnancy, I was on bedrest for the last 3 months… with 3 year old twins at home, so that was difficult. I laid on the couch most of the day watching them play instead of the bed. I was 50% effaced when the 2nd set of babies were less than 2 lbs inside me. Thankfully, though, they didn’t come until 38 weeks (Joshua was 7 lbs 12 oz. and Julia was 6 lbs).

What tips do you have for families that may be expecting their second set of multiples?

Take it easy. Ask for help with laundry, vacuuming, etc. I think I overdid it and that’s why I ended up on bedrest. Try not to carry the first set of twins much. Drink a lot of water while pregnant. Make freezer meals ahead of time. When the 2nd set were born- I still tried to give the first set individual attention. Let the older twins help with the babies. Assign buddies so the older twins have a little buddy to help take care of. My kids are now 7 & 3 and they still like having buddies. Which helps me a lot when we go places, for example, the older twins will hold their buddies hand while in the parking lot, etc.

Which twin pregnancy surprised you the most?

2nd pregnancy. I didn’t think it would happen a 2nd time.

Your kids are homeschooled, what tips do you have for a family thinking of homeschooling their kids?

Find a support group such as a homeschool coop or a charter program. We use a homeschool charter program that pays for curriculum, extra curricular activities like violin, Spanish & dance classes.

What are some of your favorite things to do as a family?

Go to the park, bike rides and church activities.

What question(s) do you have for the rest of the families in the community?

How do you stay organized with housework, laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc? How do you assign chores to your children? 🙂

Be sure to leave your answers to Suzy’s questions in the comment section and then head over to Double Blessings! Double Joy! to leave some bloggy love!
