Review and Giveaway: Scenarios for Girls Swept Away

This is the 5th and 6th Scenarios book from Nicole O’Dell that I have been able to review. The newest book, Swept Away, features two stories, High Stakes and Essence of Lilly.

In High Stakes Amber and Brittany, who are seniors and best friends, are neck and neck in a good-natured competitions for a car being given away by a local business. The winner will be determined by whoever maintains straight As without being absent one day during the school year. When Amber cheats on her final to win the car and Brittany takes the blame, Amber is torn. Does she let her friend take the fall or will she admit she cheated and face the consequences?

In Essence of Lilly, sophomore Lilly Armstrong is looking for ways to escape the confines of her unhappy home. She “invents” youth group activities just so she can hang out with her boyfriend, Jason. When Jason convinces Lilly to lie to her parents about a church overnighter so she can stay at his house while his parents are out of town, how far will she let things go? What will Lilly do?

I’ve been a fan of these books since the first one I read when Nicole launched this series. The books each have two separate endings and it is up to the reader to choose which path the character will take. In today’s world these books are perfect for tweens and teens alike. After each story there is also a pledge for the reader to take, with a lesson that is to be taken from the story. If you have a teen/tween daughter I highly recommend getting her these books. Also, if you’re involved in a youth group at your Church consider introducing these books to the girls in your group. My niece reads these books over and over again and I cannot wait to send her this new one!

One lucky reader will win their very own copy of Swept Away. For a required entry simply tell me who you would give this book to.

  8. I've been wanting to get my hands on this series. My wonderful 12 year old is having her fair share of conflict at school. We are trying to point her to "what would Jesus do" and ask for His help. Just today we had a great breakthru in a friendship conflict that was getting ugly! God is good. This series would be so great to read with her!
