QOTW: Your First Mother’s Day

Image from: Howitoo

First off, I want to wish all of our MoM’s a very happy Mother’s Day! I hope you get to spend the day doing whatever it is that you want to do!

I vaguely remember my first Mother’s Day, it was only a few days after coming home with my kiddos. To say I was sleep deprived would be an understatement.

Looking back on it 4 years later, I have to say it was awesome to have my Mom there with me on my very first Mother’s Day. There is something so incredibly special about being able to share that experience with your own mother.  I sincerely hope that in the far off future (very far off) when I become a Grandma that I can have that experience with Aaron and Jillian, especially Jill.  I also pray that Jill has twin girls just like her, but that is an entirely different post.

So here’s the QOTW:

What did you do on your very first Mother’s Day?

QOTW: When Did You Go Back to Work?

I stayed home with my kids until they started VPK and it was a decision …

  1. Do you remember your first Mother’s Day? I do! The girls were a little over 5 months old and we went to my sister’s house for her annual Mother’s Day brunch in Northern VA. It was so yummy and I’m jealous every year that I can’t go. She makes my Mom’s traditional “version” of the egg McMuffin; it just never tastes as good when I make them.
She had champagne which is irresistible so Steve said to bottoms up and he would drive home; 3 hours. We polished off a couple bottles and with a big giggle and a packed van with a happy and full family we headed out.
This particular Mother’s day was quite memorable because I learned how many diapers I needed when you can’t pull over. We were stuck in grid lock in the far left lane and there was no way Steve could get over to exit. I had no other choice but to pull out the size 1 and size 2 diapers. A bottle of champagne will fill 4 number 1’s and 2 number 2’s so if you are ever in a pinch that is what you will need. We still laugh about this but that is the price you pay to have fun.
I hope all the Mother’s out there are having a great day and making strong memories!

  2. This was my first Mother’s Day. It was incredible! Since the boys are only 9 months old, my Hubby worked extremely hard to make me feel special and loved and he sure did succeed at his goal. I woke up at 8am, which was my first gift, my Hubby got up with the babies and let me sleep in. I found a sweet card (which the boys signed themselves) on the bed and then was greeted by beautiful flowers and a sweet gift from the boys and my hubby. My hubby fed the boys breakfast and then made my favorite breakfast for me. We then spent the afternoon at the park as a family and later enjoyed dinner and dessert with our extended family. It was such an incredible day (even with two teething babies). I don’t think I could have asked for more! I wrote a blog post about what I have learned since becoming a MoM 9 short months ago, it is amazing how life can change so quickly. Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there, I hope your day was as special as mine!
