QOTW: Summer Activities

From the sounds of it, most of the kiddos are out of school now and home for the summer. I’m not sure what the weather is like by you, but here in Orlando it is hot and humid, which tends to limit a lot of our outdoor activities. If we do anything outside, that is not swimming related, it’s usually right away in the morning or right before sundown. We are lucky that we have a lot of great indoor play areas that we can go to as well, but sometimes those places are just packed. So I’m curious….

What are your favorite summer activities?

  1. My kids are still little (my oldest will start preschool in September), but we love going to the zoo and playing in the water during the summer. I just set up a small wading pool, the water table and a sprinkler and the kids can have fun for an extended period of time. I expect the sprinkler and pool will continue to be regular summer activities for years to come.

  2. My kids love the zoo. Also love the water table and splash park. This summer we are hoping to be able to do more since they are 2.5, last year was a challenge since they hadn’t been walking that long and did not listen to directions at all. This year they are still wild cards but will occasionally do as directed. Hoping we can check out lots of things we haven’t done before, and try out old favorites. We even set up a summer bucket list to give us ideas of what we want to accomplish so we don’t let summer slip away: http://goteamwood.com/2012/05/22/summer-bucket-list/

  3. My kids will be five in July, and their favorite summer activities are playing in the backyard in the sprinkler and caring for our very small vegetable garden. We set the sprinkler up so it sprays on their wooden playhouse and slide, making a homemade water slide for them. They also love to help me water and care for our garden and flower beds. We bought cute animal-shaped watering cans from the dollar spot at Target, and they are obsessed!
