QOTW: Celebrating Independence

The 4th of July is on Wednesday, but I know many of us (myself included) are celebrating this weekend. The kids and I did a craft where we made a wreath out of foam stars, and I actually made a wreath in red, white, and blue. During that time I explained the American flag to them, well at least to the best that I could on a 4 year old level. I think it’s important for our kiddos to see the 4th of July as more than just a weekend for swimming and BBQ’s.  So here’s my question to you:

How do you celebrate the 4th of July (or if you are one of our international readers, how do you celebrate your favorite holiday) with your family? Do you explain the history of it to them?

  2. We didn’t get to see fireworks because it was too hot to take the babies, but we did go to a parade and a cook out. It was a good day!
