This is our second in a series of four reviews/giveaways from The Sneaky Chef. Last week we talked about Sneaky Fitness, which is the latest book. This week we’re reviewing the one that started it all, New York Times Bestseller, The Sneaky Chef.
Since this is Missy Chase Lapine’s first book, she lays a lot of the ground work on how she came up with being a “sneaky chef”. She also includes a list of things to keep in your kitchen as staples. I’ll admit most of the things on this list never crossed my mind as staples. I cannot tell you how long it took me to find wheat germ (mainly because I had no idea what aisle it would even be in). Now, I have a jar in the fridge and a back up in my pantry at all times.
More than half of this book is recipes, and really I haven’t found one I don’t like. For breakfast I’ve made the chocolate chip pancakes (except I use peanut butter chips since my daughter does not like chocolate), fortified French toast, and I’ve used Missy’s quick fixes for boxed oatmeal. For lunch I’ve made the mac ‘n’ cheese, guerilla grilled cheese, and pigs in healthy blankets (I make them with turkey dogs, the whole family loves them!). I’ve only made one of the snacks in this book, the grab ‘n’ go crispy granola bars, and it was a pretty epic fail for me. I found out there is a fix on her website for the recipe in the book. For dinner I’ve made the maxed out meatloaf, no harm chicken parm, hi-fi fish sticks, crispy no-fry fries, and bonus burgers (huge hit!). I haven’t tried any of the desserts or drinks yet, but they all look easy and yummy!
Another great thing about this book is there are tips throughout on how to make these recipes easier. For me, I usually take one night every week and make my purees and then freeze them in 1/4 cup portions. This way I always have what I need.
Are you ready to be a sneaky chef? One of our lucky readers will win their very own copy of Sneaky Fitness. For a required entry visit Missy’s website and tell us your favorite recipe that you would like to try.

Loads of recipes I would like to try out: speedy stovetop lasagna, and the sneaky chef breakfast icecream.
The recipes look great! I would love to try the mac and cheese and the gluten-free cookies. I love black bean brownies, so figure I'd probably love white bean cookies.h Plus, I'm always looking for good gluten free recipes because of family allergies.
I would love to try the sneaky smores!
