The featured blogger this week is Krystle of 3 Little Men and a Mommy. Krystle is the proud MoM of Jack and twin boys Camden and Christian. Krystle’s blog is a great find and one that I hope you will continue to read, it’s just that good.
Why did you decide to start blogging?
I started blogging after my miscarriage in 2009. I needed an outlet and some other blogs had really helped me through the pain, so I thought, maybe something I say would help somebody else.
Were you surprised to find out you were having twins?
Yes! But at the same time, it felt like it was just supposed to happen. We lost one baby, and then here we were just several months later seeing two heartbeats! We cried and laughed all at the same time.
How did Jack adjust to having new brothers?
It has been a bit difficult for him. Being just 2 1/2, his world got totally rocked. He went from the center of our universe to being one of three. It’s hard to tell what behavior is just him being 2 and what is in response to the new babies. He’s a pretty tender kid, loves lots of affection, so whenever he sees us holding a baby, he asks to be held. But he loves them. He gives them kisses, replaces pacifiers and tickles their feet.
What has surprised you the most about having twins?
Probably the insane lack of sleep we got the first 8 weeks. I was delirious. I really did not expect it to be that bad. If it was just the twins I could have slept when they did….but with a toddler that was not an option. We took them home 2 weeks after they were born and I was a mess! Mixing lack of sleep with wacko hormones was not a pretty picture. That and the extreme nature to which my skin was stretched 🙂
What are some of your favorite things to do as a family?
We like to get out. We have tried to do that as often as possible, even though it can be hard. Grocery shopping, to the park, eating out etc. We like to go on trips too, we have our first one coming up and then Disneyland in November with our whole family!
What question(s) do you have for the other parents in our community?
Do you have any tips on traveling with twins? Any space saving ideas? And I’m still breastfeeding, how long were you able to breastfeed your twins and when do they start stretching out their feeds? Thank you!
