Barefoot Books

Barefoot Books is an independent children’s book publishing company, based in MA. It was started by two mothers who were seeking books that inspired children’s creativity and imagination, while also instilling respect for other cultures and the planet. Their beautiful books, music, puzzles, and more are sold online, in the flagship store in Concord, MA, at FAO Schwartz in NYC, and through a global network of Ambassadors.

I was able to review two books, “I Wish I Were a Pilot” and “We’re Sailing Down the Nile”.

“I Wish I Were a Pilot” allows you to wish your way through race car tracks, wavy seas and even star-filled space. Travelers of all sorts are featured in this imaginative book that includes educational notes about each of the modes of transportation featured in the rhyming text. The recommended ages are 1 to 4 years.

“We’re Sailing Down the Nile” allows you to set sail along the mighty Nile River to experience the wonders of Egypt. The lilting, rhyming story text is followed by eleven pages full of educational information about ancient Egypt, gods and goddesses, a helpful map, and much more. The recommended ages are 4 to 10 years.

Both books are new favorites of my kiddos and I love the illustrations. There is so much to look at that it gives us a lot to talk about.

One lucky reader will have a chance to win a $20 gift certificate from Barefoot Books. All you have to do is visit Amy’s store and tell me what books you would buy with the gift certificate.

  1. I am all about Egypt and it's history and I've been telling my daughter stories about it so I'd definitely get "We're Sailing Down the Nile". I also like "Tales of Wisdom and Wonder", The Adventures of Odysseus, The Arabian Nights, Goddesses: A World of Myth and Magic…any of these books, really. They all look spectacular.

  2. The Yoga books would be fun. My son is getting Physical therapy and this exercise would be great for him!
