Abby of Thrifty with Triplets

The featured blogger this week is Abby of The Perry Triplets and Thrifty with Triplets! Abby is the proud MoM of almost 3 year old triplets, Alex, Brandon and Lila. I’m kind of obsessed with her Thrifty with Triplets blog, she has so many cute ideas and I cannot pin them fast enough on Pinterest! I hope you enjoy Abby’s blog as much as I do!

What made you decide to start a blog?

We started the original blog www.theperrytriplets.blogspot.com as a way for friends, family, and curious strangers to keep updated on my pregnancy and then life with triplets. The second blog, www.thriftywithtriplets.blogspot.com came out of my need for a creative outlet and a place to share crafts, recipes, and tips for both families with multiples and those who just love to creative things while not spending a lot of money.

How did you react when you found out you were expecting triplets?

I actually went through the Kubler-Ross five stages of grief. I mean I was not grieving, but I really went from total denial to eventual acceptance. As someone who suffered with infertility and had previously miscarried I was in complete denial that this pregnancy was going to be viable.

What has been your favorite thing about being a MoM?

I love that our family is unique and love that we instantly had a full house.

You also have another blog called Thrifty with Triplets, can you tell us a little bit about that blog?

Our first blog is really about the pregnancy and life with triplets. The other blog, www.thriftywithtriplets.blogspot.com is about doing the thing I love which include cooking, crafting, and saving money. So many people think that if you have multiples that you don’t have time to do thing like make homemade bread – I am here to prove them wrong.

What is your best tip for saving money?

First, if you are expecting multiples go ahead and write letters requesting coupons from the manufacturers of baby products. This is a great activity to do from your laptop if you are on bedrest. I made a form letter and included a letter from my doctor confirming I was pregnant with triplets. I got a bunch of coupons for free or significant product discounts including diapers, baby food, formula, clothes. Seriously, one manufactuer even sent me 3 free onsies with a stack of coupon. If you currently have multiples, the best tip I have is ALWAYS ask if the store offers a discount for Moms of Multiples. You would be surprised by how many times I have gotten 10% off by just asking.

What would you do with an extra hour in your day?

I would spent 20 minutes of alone time with each child. One on one time with Mommy is at a premium at our house.

Be sure to stop by Thrifty with Triplets to leave some bloggy love!

  1. Love this post! Abby was in the hospital with me, and she is one of the funniest people you will meet (if you couldn’t tell by the picture she posted of a disastrous attempt at a group shot). And she’s SO crafty! Hopefully someday I’ll be able to find the time to make some of the cute things she posts (I’d LOVE to try the crayon art) … I’m just not there yet. 🙂

Keep up with me, Ted, and our Fab Four at http://four-by-two.blogspot.com.

  2. This is so funny that I stumbled upon this post this morning. I was also in the hospital with Abby and our triplets ended up being born exactly one week apart. I JUST took a baked oatmeal out of the oven this morning – a recipe I got from one of Abby’s earliest posts. We make this all the time – such a great recipe! And I will definitely be trying the crayon art…just as soon as I find time to make it to the craft store for supplies! 🙂

  3. As Abby’s mother and grandmother of those amazing triplets I don’t know how my daughter does it. Not only is she creative she is a wonderful wife, mother, sister and daughter. She continues to amaze me everyday with her patience and love and works full time as well!
